A Walk Through Bryggen, Bergens beautiful wharf.

Bryggen is one of those places that never really gets old, no matter how many times you walk past it. The colourful wooden buildings lining the harbour are some of the most photographed spots in Bergen, but there’s more here than just a pretty picture.
This area tells the story of Bergen’s trading past, dating back to the Hanseatic League, when merchants from across Europe lived and worked right along this waterfront. If you wander between the buildings, you’ll find narrow alleyways, old staircases, and hidden corners that feel a world away from the busy harbour outside.
Bryggen is also a great place to slow down. Grab a coffee, watch the boats come and go, and take in the mix of history, everyday local life, and curious visitors passing through. Whether the sun is shining or the rain is doing its usual Bergen thing, Bryggen always has a special atmosphere.

Do you ever get to the far west end of Bryggen? I stayed at a hotel near the fort/castle. Looking out my 3rd story window, I had this lady statue hanging on the building across the street. Would love to see that area. Also, a very old church just a block or two behind wharf, on the way to the tram that has a troll at the top and music notes on the overlook rails.
