Bergen Brunsj Review – A Brunch Spot That's Worth the Hype

Finding a great brunch spot in Bergen isn't difficult, but finding one that gets everything right is much rarer. After visiting Bergen Brunsj last Saturday, I can honestly say it deserves its excellent reputation.

From the moment we arrived, the restaurant had a fantastic atmosphere. It was busy with a real weekend buzz, yet still felt relaxed and welcoming. The staff were friendly, service was efficient, and there was an energy in the restaurant that immediately made us feel comfortable.

My Choice – BUCHEON

I decided to order the BUCHEON (359 NOK with fries), a waffle topped with crispy Korean fried chicken, chilli, spring onions, sesame seeds and a sweet syrup sauce.

It was simply incredible.

The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside while staying juicy and tender inside. The combination of sweet and spicy flavours worked brilliantly, with the syrup balancing the gentle kick from the chilli. The waffle was light and fluffy, making every bite something a little different from your typical brunch dish.

The fries were cooked perfectly too—crispy, golden and well-seasoned. They complemented the meal without stealing the show.

Another Excellent Choice – BERLAND

The person dining with me chose the BERLAND (345 NOK with fries), made with sourdough bread, creamy scrambled eggs, smoked trout from Askøy, spinach and fresh sprouts.

It looked absolutely fantastic when it arrived at the table. The generous portion of smoked trout paired beautifully with the soft scrambled eggs, while the fresh spinach and sprouts added both colour and freshness. It was a lighter option than my Korean chicken waffle but looked just as satisfying and was thoroughly enjoyed.

It's great to see locally sourced ingredients like Askøy smoked trout featured on the menu.

Atmosphere

One of the highlights of Bergen Brunsj is the atmosphere. Whether you're meeting friends, enjoying a relaxed date, or fuelling up before exploring Bergen, it feels like the perfect place to spend a couple of hours. The restaurant has a modern, stylish interior while still feeling warm and inviting.

Even though it was busy, the staff never seemed rushed and everyone was welcoming throughout our visit.

Final Thoughts

Bergen Brunsj delivered on every level—fantastic food, excellent service and a lively atmosphere that makes you want to come back.

Whether you're a local looking for your next favourite brunch spot or a visitor searching for somewhere memorable to eat, this is a restaurant I'd happily recommend.

I'll definitely be returning. There are plenty of tempting dishes on the menu, but that Korean fried chicken waffle will be hard to resist ordering again.

If you're planning a weekend visit, I'd recommend arriving a little early or booking ahead if possible—it was understandably popular when we visited.
