✈️ Getting to the Airport During Bybanen Closures? Don’t Panic!
No worries—just allow yourself an extra 10 minutes for the journey.
If you’re in the city centre and need to catch the Bybanen to the airport, here’s what to do:
🚶♀️ Walk from Byparken Bus Stop Head along the path that runs next to the Bybanen tracks. You’ll pass Nonneseter and curve around to reach Bergen Busstasjon.
🚊 Important: Know Your Line! The tram lines split here:
Line 1 goes to the Airport – this is the one you want.
Line 2 goes in a different direction (to Fyllingsdalen), and is on the left side.
✅ Check the signs at the stop carefully before you board. It’s all clearly marked.
🗓 Key Dates & Changes

Line 1 uses Platforms A and B
Line 2 uses Platform D (skyss.no, reddit.com)
Expect a walk of around 600 meters (~8 minutes) between Byparken and Bergen busstasjon (skyss.no).
Many bus lines (12, 13, and others) offer alternate routes—check the Skyss app or website for details (skyss.no).
🧳 What Travelers Should Do
Check updated timetables for both Line 1 and 2 near your travel dates.
Plan for transfers—you may need to walk or take a replacement bus.
Allow extra travel time, especially during peak or busy periods.
Stay informed—use the Skyss app for real-time updates on routes and alternative services.
✍️ Final Word
This planned maintenance—focused on replacing aging track switches—will improve reliability and prevent future disruptions (skyss.no,). While the summer route changes mean a bit of extra planning, the outcome will be a smoother and more dependable Bybanen for years to come.
