Bergen is expensive compared with the UK, but if you budget sensibly you can enjoy a full day in the city without spending a fortune. For two people, expect to spend around NOK 1,300–1,800 (£95–130) depending on where you eat.

Getting from Bergen Airport to the City
The cheapest option is the light rail (Bybanen), which takes around 45 minutes into the centre and costs about NOK 51 per person. For two people that is roughly NOK 102.
If you prefer a quicker and easier journey with luggage, the airport bus costs from NOK 149 per person if booked online in advance. For two people, budget around NOK 300.
Breakfast
If breakfast is included at your hotel, use it. Hotel breakfasts in Norway are usually excellent and can easily save you NOK 300–400 for two.
If you do need breakfast in town, a good choice is Godt Brød Torgatten. Expect to pay around NOK 150–200 each for coffee, pastries or a sandwich, so around NOK 350 for two.
Another good option is for a lighter breakfast and coffee is Dromedar Cafe.
Mid-Morning Coffee Break
A coffee and cake stop is almost essential in Bergen, especially if it rains.
Try Fjåk chocolate shop & café for hot chocolate or coffee with a pastry, or Dromedar Kaffebar Strandgaten if you just want coffee.
Budget around NOK 120–180 for two people.

Lunch
For a reasonable local lunch, Søstrene Hagelin Kong Oscars Gate is famous for fish soup and fish cakes. Lunch for two is usually around NOK 300–400.
If you want a sit-down traditional meal by Bryggen, AS Bryggestuen - Bryggeloftet is more expensive but still reasonable for Bergen. Lunch for two is likely to be NOK 500–700.
Snack Stop
You cannot visit Bergen without trying a sausage from Trekroneren. One hot dog costs around NOK 80–120 depending on the toppings, so for two people you are looking at roughly NOK 200.

Dinner for Two
For a reasonably priced traditional Norwegian dinner, Pingvinen is one of the best options in the city centre. Expect dinner and one drink each to cost around NOK 700–900 for two.
Another solid option is Pincho nation, if you want something more filling and casual. Dinner for two here is usually around NOK 800–1,000. Book early as it gets very busy.
Total Daily Budget for Two
Using the light rail and hotel breakfast: around NOK 1,300–1,500
Using the airport bus and eating breakfast out: around NOK 1,600–1,800
That works out at approximately £95–130 for two people for a full day in Bergen, excluding your hotel and flights.
£95–130 is roughly:
US Dollars: about $120–165
Euros: about €110–150
